James R. Carey, 92, of Selbyville, Del., passed away Sunday, Nov. 8, 2009, at home. He had been a nurseryman for 53 years and was one of the owners of Peninsula Nurseries in Selbyville. ?
Carey was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Mary (Bishop) Carey; a brother, Lee Carey; and a sister Betty Hall. He is survived by his wife Veronica C. "Ronnie" Carey; three daughters, Patricia Johnson of Wilimington, Del., Joyce Carey of West Chester, Pa. and Linda "Randy" Funk of Cordova, Md.; three step-children, Katrina "Darryl" Adams-Gill of San Antonio, Texas, Jerry Adams of Walworth, N.Y., and Patrick "Rebecca" Adams of Seaford, Del.; two sisters, Margaret Martin of Wilmington, Del. and Doris Williams of Selbyville, Del.; thirteen grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be held Saturday, Nov. 14, 11 a.m. at the Hastings Funeral Home, 19 S. Main St., Selbyville, Del. where friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park, Georgetown, Del. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Roxana Vol. Fire Co., 35943 Zion Church Rd., Frankford, DE 19945.
