Edward ‘Ed’ S. Kuntz, 97

Edward “Ed” S. Kuntz, 97, of Lewes, Del., formerly of Nokomis, Fla., passed away peacefully at his residence on Friday, Jan. 27, 2012, with his family by his side.

Born June 16, 1914, in New York City, Kuntz was a member of the Bakery Drivers and Salesman Local 194, Brotherhood of Teamsters Union for many years. He was raised in the Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood of New York City and enjoyed telling stories of watching the Empire State Building and the Holland Tunnel being constructed. He cheered for all New York sports teams, especially the Giants and the Mets. He was known as a tinkerer at heart who worked on automobiles, crafts and woodworking. He enjoyed traveling with his wife in their RV, visiting every state in the union twice. Kuntz was a member of the Henlopen Elks and Moose Lodge #2540 and an honorary member of the American Legion Post #17.

Kuntz was preceded in death by his parents, William Kuntz and Sadie Scriven Kuntz; his first wife, Lorraine Then Kuntz, in 1947; and his second wife, of 53 years, Frances Miller Kuntz, in 2002. He is survived by two daughters, Marianne Furman and her husband, William, and Lorraine Cintron and her husband, Jose, all of Milton; six grandchildren, William Furman Jr. of Boston, Mass., Michael Furman and his wife, Coleen, of Dagsboro, Del., Candee Marie Cintron and her husband, Nicholas Maxymuik, of Philadelphia, Pa., Scott Furman and his wife, Stacie, of Lewes, Del., Leigh Ann Zerden of Townsend, Del., and Joseph Todd Cintron of Los Angeles, Calif.; and eight great-grandchildren.

A graveside service was to be announced at a later date, with information provided on the Web site for Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium in Lewes, Del.
