Feb. 16

Women’s club — The next meeting of the South Bethany Women’s Club will be held at Cripple Creek Golf & Country Club at 12:30 p.m. All are invited to attend, and lunch will be selected from the menu. Bingo game — Lord Baltimore Elementary School will host Bingo games starting at 7 p.m. Doors will open at 6 p.m. There will be 20 games of Bingo, with four special Bingo games, door prizes, 50/50 and a raffle auction.

Book sale — The Friends of the South Coastal Library will hold its semi-annual book sale at the library from 1 to 5 p.m. on Friday, and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday. Items cost $2 or less, and include fiction and non-fiction books for all ages, CDs, DVDs, cookbooks and more. Feb. 18

Ravens dance — Ravens Roost #44 is holding a Post Football Season Dance at the Ocean City Elks Lodge Hall from 7 to 11 p.m. The band Tranzfusion will perform. Mardi Gras benefit — American Legion Post 24 in Dagsboro is sponsoring a Mardi Gras party to benefit The Home of the Brave from 2 to 5 p.m. There will be New Orleans-style food, music by Joy Star, raffles and more. NARFE meets — The Western Sussex Chapter 1992 of the National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association (NARFE) will hold its next meeting at the Pizza King Restaurant in Seaford at noon. Men’s club meets — The St. Ann’s Parish Men’s Club will meet at the church’s Delaney Hall at 7 p.m. The guest speaker will be Jerry Parr, a former Secret Service agent who served from 1962 to 1985. Armchair traveler — The South Coastal Library is holding its popular Armchair Traveler Series from 6 to 7 p.m. Gordon and Pat Wood will discuss their travels to central Asia. Boating course — U.S. Coast Guard Flotilla 12-01 of South Bethany is giving a Boating Course in South Bethany. Valentine’s for Baby Ava — Oceanova will host Valentine’s for Baby Ava from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event will benefit the DelRicco Benefit Fund, which helps Ava DelRicco’s family deal with medical bills stemming from a car accident where a driver allegedly under the influence of drugs injured Ava.   • Bethany history — The Bethany Beach Museum, located in the lobby of town hall, will be closed on weekends until spring of 2006. At that time, new exhibits will have been added to those already on display. However, as town hall is open Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., all are invited to participate in a self-guided “Walk Through History” tour throughout the year.

  • Thrift shop — Frankford Presbyterian Church’s “Nearly New Thrift Shop” is open every Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and every Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. There is clothing, housewares, furniture, antiques and more.
